fINALLY | There is a place to account for the Configuration Items for physical infrastructure that today's CIs run on!

It is simply a customized table of physical configuration items that the organization populates noting the physical infrastructure items [such as cable IDs, etc.] that are integral to a configuration management program.

If you are not using the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) set of configuration management standards - congratulations (!) you will not need this feature. However, if you do use ITIL, the quality of your Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and operation of your help/service desk software will be enhanced.
